I installed from an .iso image using G-mount and applied a no-cd patch.
Has crashed on me using 1.01, 1.03 & 1.05 updates. Has also crashed if the AI teams are allowed to build silly amounts of units, and i mean ALOT! keep 'em in check to avoid.
Only other minor issue is during combat it can run a tad slow, this may be due to the age of the game though im not sure. Definatly not enough to deter you from this great game.
What does not
nothing, all works fine
What was not tested
check gamecopyworld for no-cd patch

Update the game to version 1.03 to avoid the copy-protection (the 1.01 and 1.04 updates do not work).
Place the DLLs in this archive
in Wine's windows/system32 directory. Then, start winecfg and add dll
overrides (native, builtin) for the following DLLs: dplayx, dpnet,
dpnhpast and dpwsockx.
After that, update your Wine registry by running 'wineprefixcreate'.
