Master Rallye was developed by Steel Monkey's and is their first rally game to be released. This game is more of arcade racer, than a simulation, with the emphasis on "fun" It is also an entertaining trucking thrill ride that walks a fine line between a realistic rally title and a wild 4x4 off-road racer.
Basic gameplay in fullscreen. You can run single races and trophy races. Sound effects and environmental effects all work, adjusting controls, access to various screens. Visual damage to vehicle displays properly, vehicle selection.
What does not
Music soundtrack does not play. (MP3 format jazz), just silence.
Colour-coded vehicle damage icons don't change. The vehicle is displaying damage to the bodywork but you can never be too sure how much mechanical damage you've sustained.
Screen resolution change. Seems I can only play in 640x480.
Progression through the information windows usually sticks. This was a sporadic problem under Windows as well, I believe it is a bug with the game itself, not Wine. It happens consistently under Wine 1.2, though. When you finish a race, and hit enter to move through the stats pages, after hitting enter at each one, you have to alt-tab,alt-tab back. Sometimes, you have to do that sequence twice. So long as you've started from a console (or have some other app to alt-tab to) it won't be a problem, the game will progress.
What was not tested
Network play. Windowed mode.
Nice arcade game, plays well enough to enough to enjoy it.
