1. File name in linux is different when capitalized so take a note when developing components (forms, reports, database, etc). What supposedly a replacement operation (file x.scx replacing x.scx) can probably fail (because file x.scx is different than file x.SCX).
2. Default printer to use in a VFP can't be set. The Default printer always follow linux default printer.
3. Custom paper size setting is erratically off a couple of mm althought that's probably due to problem in linux cups printing. It's a big problem in form feed printing.
4. Position of objects in actual report printing can be far from what seen in preview. WYSINWYG.
5. Application graphic refresh is not perfect and sometimes borderline ugly, depending on wine version. Many refresh problems are related to container object.
6. Some VFP crashes may lead to serious corruption of application projects unseen if using windows. Using source version is very recommended.
Use a current wine version for VFP7
This HOWTO is based on the excellent articles by Paul McNett. I'll slowly integrates that article into one comprehensive HOWTO. Please correct me if I'm wrong since some of my experiences below is based on older wine and an effort to maintain an application, not an intentional analysis of VFP in wine.
