What works

Made a single DVD from the 3 that you get, no problems encountered there. (Just makes life easier!)

Installation was straightforward until the end. Do not press the 'Run program now' button or you will crash, however (luckily) if you do that just restart your computer and the game will still run fine!

The game does take a little bit to run once installed, however patiences is a virtue!

Tested as the intro/tutorial missions and the Brutii for the main game. Everything seems to work nicely, no problems/unexpected vid errors or anything.

Historic battles play nicely, no problems encountered.

No lag, game play on low/medium is smooth!

What does not

The starting video doesn't work it just skips.

The starting page is a mess. Text and images stay from previous pages if you go to a new one. Its a purely visual problem though and you can see through the mess of the start screens.

I'd recommend changing settings from in-game (no problems there).

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

If you have any problems with playing Rome, you should try this:

  1. Use the lowest graphic settings, because one of them crashes the game
  2. Type wine regedit in a terminal. Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Wine / Direct3D or create it if it doesn't exist. Now you have to add two new keys.DirectDrawRenderer with the string value opengl and VideoMemorySize with the string value of you graphic memory size, for example 512 or 256.

If you want to post a test please write in it, if you have an ATI/AMD,Nvidia,or any other graphic card, because they can cause different problems
