The installation media is available as a retail DVD, a down-loadable trial or it may also be purchased on-line through Steam and the SOE (Sony On-line Entertainment) store as a digital download.

After installation and subscription,  the SWG client is patched and updated automatically to the latest chapter by the SOE Station Launcher.

What works

 Tested with a Quad Core, 4 GB of RAM and nVidia 8800 GT with proprietary drivers on Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64.

  • All major features work very well, although you get a lower frame rate.
  • Battlefields work fine.
  • TCG works fine, which did not last time I checked (months ago).

What does not

  • You cannot set volumetric shadows for non-character objects, as it crashes the game. In general, better not to turn shadows on.
  • Frame rate is a bit poor even if you set all graphic options to a minimum.
  • You need to disable autorepeat in your keyboard preferences or the character won't walk more than 2 steps.
