What works

Both campaigns were played to completion at least two times, no errors were found.Mods work correctly as well. Installing from the CD works correctly. I did a full playthrough with the (as of right now) most recent version of the Enhanced Edition fan-made patch and also tested the fan-made Brazilian Portuguese translation and dubbing, both worked without issues.

Additional Comments

All version of the game (1.0, 1.1 and Director's Cut) will have audio issues and eventually crash if run on multiple cores. The Enhanced Edition mod fixes this issue.

If using Enhanced Edition:

  • the configuration tool (SH2EEconfig.exe) has to be used to fix an error with the game buffering the wrong frame during fade effects. Thisissue is noticeable when opening a door or using the inventory. Under the DirectX section of the display tab, set "How should the game capture front buffer data" to "Use DirectX." This only happens when the game is played through Wine.
  • updating the mod files uninstalling the mod using the setup tool (SH2EEsetup.exe) works correctly with Wine.
  • the libraries d3d8, Dinput, Dinput8, dsound and XInput1_3 have to be set to "native, embedded" for the patch to work.

The game was played at 1280x720 resolution and ran without issues at max settings with the following hardware configuration: 6GB RAM, Intel Core i5 CPU and Intel HD Graphics 2000 iGPU with Mesa drivers.
