What works
Joining a server, playing, all classes, sprays, mic chat, text chat, hud, all menus, console, settings. I get between 60-80 FPS with all settings on high (textures set to "high" not "very high") with dxlevel 81.
What does not
Console/Server text is a bit hard to read, dxlevel 90 is buggy and does not display HUD, menu backgrounds, incredibly low FPS.
Workarounds
What was not tested
Antialiasing and HDR (unable to be used under dxlevel 81)
Hardware tested

Additional Comments
I had to set hl2.exe to Windows 98 mode to prevent random crashing, launch options were -dxlevel 81 -novid -w 1280 -h 1024. -dxlevel 81 was removed after first launch to keep video settings from clearing. This is a Source issue, nothing to do with Wine. My system specs: 4GB DDR2 800 RAM Pentium Dual-Core 2.2GHZ Nvidia Geforce 9400 with driver version 185.18.36 Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala 64-Bit Wine 1.1.38

FAQ:
Q: It seems that dod source works once steam as been installed as it is
said in the steam section. But once dod is launched, steam stays in
focus and obstruct the screen. When I try to lower the steam window,
everything freezes and I must reboot the PC, the keyboard is not
responding!
Whats going on?
A: One of the known bugs with steam is that it always is on top and cannot be minimized, or else the system crashes. So if the steam window is still on your screen when you start your game, simply X out of it instead of trying to minimize it.
