What works

Installation

What does not

While Shortcut Placement on my KDE 3.5.1 Desktop occured with two different shortcuts, neither one would work correctly: clicking one would give an error with a bad pathname (to the .exe file) and the other would bring up a window for configuration options (resolution, opengl vs. directx, etc.) but text was missing from some of the selectable boxes within this window and gave errors when you clicked them. Had to run the game manually following installation from the command line with: "/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Duke Nukem - Manhattan Project (DEMO)$ wine DukeNukemMP.exe" When loaded only a black screen appears with music playing when DirectX option is used, tried pressing several keys and clicking mouse buttons, no graphics or text would appear, had to exit back to command line.

Additional Comments

Following running the demo via "wine DukeNukemMP.exe", within the window that comes up with configuration options, selecting DirectX and 800x600 and proceeding would bring it to a black screen while choppy music played in the background (but this may be because I didn't have the jack library (libjack.so) installed.). I clicked the left mouse button a few times and pressed a few keys but nothing happened. Had to Alt-Tab out of it and ctrl-c at the command line where I started the game from and used "killall wine-preloader" to end the process still loaded. The screen size of my desktop was now at a wierd resolution below 640x480. Attempting to run the demo with the OpenGL option and 800x600 failed with "*** ERROR *** can't initialize gfx subsystem... exiting" and other errors listed at the command line. Attempted selection of other options within the configuration window but all of them failed with various messages or the result above with the music playing at black screen. The game demo title is listed twice in the Wine Application Uninstaller.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO - Double Jump Not Working
If you have probles double-jumping, it could be a problem with synchronization. You have to enable VSync. I use "__GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1 wine prism3d.exe"
The should be another way by setting "Sync to VBlank" in "Nvidia SEttings/X Screen 0/OpenGL Settings"
