The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Install works flawlessly.
Menu opens, and I am able to reconfigure the game, explore saved games from windows, and start a new game (where I can watch the opening movie.
Sound works in both the menu and in the movies.
I noticed no speed problems and my configuration settings worked and were loaded each time, unlike some users have experianced.
What does not
The installer freezes if you have insufficiant hard drive space.
During loading screens there is a terrible static.
Game crashes after loading a game or starting a new game (after opening movie).
Text, pictures, and buttons don't always appear correctly, and seem to appear and disappear.
What was not tested
Actuall game play is the only thing not covered, aside from checking if the windows saved games will actually run in addition to showing up on the load screen.
I had to check the hardware settings before playing due to the lack of hardware detection. I followed what other people have suggested and modified my /home/user/My Games/Oblivion/Oblivion.ini to get rid of the value for SIntroSequence (while still keeping SIntroSequence= even though it is empty). This allowed me to actually start the game. The error that I recieve upon the crash is (in part): Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000004 in 32-bit code (0x00582604). Perhaps I should start a bug report and see if we can overcome it. My box: P4 2.8Ghz, 512 ram, 512 swap, Nvidia FX5500, On-board sound (as well as an unsupported X-Fi =( )
