Additional Comments

Basic features all work great. Preference windows crashing doesnt even qualify as an annoyance since you can edit the INI files easily enough and you dont really change prefs much once they are where you need them. Only reason it doesnt get a gold in my opinion is the chat windows getting 'lost' if you accidentally drag them too close to the edge of the screen. You have to exit trillian and reopen it to get them back. If it could be set to play nice on that respect it would meet all my needs.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO: Establish compatibility with Compiz / Configure preferences

A) Compiz-Fusion

Some compatiblity issues with Compiz-Fusion should be expected, but it runs really well with CF, too. Because Trillian ships with its own borders you might want to do the following:

1. Open "CompizConfig Settings Manager"
2. Go to Effects/Window Decoration/General
3. add !(name=trillian) to "Decoration Windows"

This will prevent the window decorator to draw its window borders. You will use all the compiz effects if you do this though, so you might consider keeping the window decorator enabled for Trillian.

B) Preferences

As the prefernces dialog is quite unstable, you can use the .ini files to configure Trillian. They are usually residing at:
/home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Trillian/users/global

C) Notes

If you loose your internet connection or if there are short interruptions, you might experience a lag between the connection breaking up and Trillian noticing that it is gone.
