The game suffers from ID Tech's GL extension buffer overrun bug, so if the game crashes on start, run it with prefix: __GL_ExtensionStringVersion=17700 if you're nvidia driver user, or MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR=2002 if you're mesa (nouveau, ati, intel, ...) driver user. Don't know how to help catalyst users, sorry. I'm still rating Platinum, as this is a game's bug, and it has nothing to do with Wine.
