Installation question
by Frans Kool on Tuesday January 27th 2009, 4:51
Hi,

I just wanted to know how anyone is able to install this game. I have the official install CDs, but after trying to install the game I get a warning window telling me "Incompatible system configuration" and after that a window stating that the CD failed the authenticity check.

Is there some way around this to get the game installed (other than installing on Windows and copying to Linux)?
If so, please enlighten me.
Thanks,

Frans

Hi Frans,
I got no problems installing Platinum 1.52 edition of Spellforce from DVD using older Wine (something around 0.9.59 and 1.1.4). There were some problems in installer code in Wine for recent builds 1.1.10, 1.1.11 and 1.1.12. Please try downgrading Wine and install again.

It may be also the game version difference (different copy protection scheme used), for which I have no workaround, sorry. You can set Windows version to Win98 in winecfg to override Safedisc-like protection.
Cheers
