What works

Everything tested, which is serial key entry, basic shape drawing, sounds, saving

Had to set Win XP, had to copy msvcp60.dll, msvcrt.dll and mfc40.dll and bcgcbpr064.dll from the Windows install. Had to set virtual desktop mode to enter the serial key.

It tells you Quicktime needs to be installed when you start, but it appears to work anyway. It may be certain import/export features that need quicktime.

Had to set msvcrt.dll to Native only to make it run.

Installation works is set to N/A as it was just run off the mounted windows partition. It may work.

What does not

The icons on the toolbar are not in colour, but are still functional.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
Starting off with a fresh .wine may help:
$ rm -rf ~/.wine

Now run:
$ winecfg

This will create your .wine directory, and open the configuration tool. In here, change the Windows Version to Windows XP by using the drop down box.

Download the following files from http://www.dll-files.com/:
msvcp60.dll, msvcrt.dll and mfc40.dll

Download the files, unzip the .dll files from the downloaded archives, and copy them to your .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/, eg:
$ cp msvcp60.dll ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/

On the Libraries tab of winecfg, set the three .dll files as native. This example is for msvcp60.dll:
Type msvcp60 into the text box, then click Add.
Select msvcp60 and click Edit, and select Native (Windows). Repeat this for all three .dll files.

Click Apply then OK.

This step is only needed for the serial key entry, if you already put it in in setup you won't need to do it:
On the Graphics tab of winecfg, select Emulation a virtual desktop, and enter a size for instance 1024x768. Now click Apply then OK.

You should now be able to start Vectorworks in the usual Wine way:
$ wine .wine/drive_c/path/to/vectorworks/vectorworks.exe

You can turn off the Virtual Desktop again once the serial key has been entered.
