What works

Everything.

There is flickering present in menus but ingame graphics are ok.

Run setup.exe in the Carma95 folder.

If terminal gives you winevdm: unable to exec '--app-name': 16-bit support missing write

sudo sysctl -w vm.mmap_min_addr=0

And it should work. I think its a 8.04 only bug.

You must run carmageddon using the -hires switch. i.e: ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Games/Carmageddon$ wine CARM95.EXE -hires No problems experienced. Be aware, the age of this game means that it will look poor on modern screens due to the low maximum resolution. On the plus side, you are not likely to run into any lagging issues! I personally run it in a virtual desktop as the game does not detect widescreen monitors (not surprisingly!) and so some of the bottom of the game is 'off the screen'. This is only a problem if you need to see the bottom half of the car status reporter

If DirectX 3 installation crashes during Carmageddon installation just install DX3 seperatly. It in CARM dir.

Note from admin: installing dx is not necessary, Wine has it's own implementation.

"Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix." It meas that Wine will probably not run your DOS applications. If you want to run DOS applications use Dosbox or Dosemu insted of Wine.
