The game installs fine. When I do a full install, I don't even need the CD in to play the game! (On Windows, it does a disc check). One thing I had to do was install the Indeo IV50 codec, which I got from Intel's PC Camera codec pack at this link: HERE. After that, the game was playable, and it didn't instantly close.
What does not
The game started OK, but then it would instantly close when I looked to the left after arriving on Myst Island. I had version 0.9.37 x86-64 installed then. A person on the message board said he fixed that issue by installed version 0.9.38, so I upgraded...but I had to use the i386 package, because nobody's built that version for x86-64! After installing it, the issue was NOT fixed.
I knew there were issues with the Indeo video codec, so I installed Intel's PC Camera codec pack at this link: HERE. It installed OK, and the automatic closing issue seemed to be fixed!
There are many graphical glitches. For example, the sky on Myst flickers. There is a serious issue where some textures appear all black. In the Mechanical age, this happens when you need to enter the four symbols on the pedestal. It's impossible, because you can't see what you're entering!
What was not tested
I haven't gone through the entire game (yet).
I couldn't even get this game to start on Windows XP, so I was very happy when it worked on Wine. CPU: Core 2 Duo E6300 Graphics: ATI Radeon X1900 (proprietary driver 8.37.6) Resolution: 1680x1050, 32-bit Sound: "Intel HD Audio" (on motherboard)
