What works
Opening cutscenes mostly work, and are correctly rendered for the most part (see below).
The main game works great, as far as I tested. Switches switch, you can get into and turn the tower, you can open the spaceship. You can open and visit mechanical age. You can go grab the white page (if you know where it is ;) or either of the red/blue pages. You can visit the Stoneship age. Day/night effects and weather effects look great.
Setup tool works.
Loading and saving games works, as well as starting a new game.
What does not
In the beginning, looking towards the library (specifically, it seems when the inside of the library is rendered) slows the game down considerably, but after looking at it for some time the game sped up and I no longer experienced this slowdown.
If you watch the opening cutscene, when the MYST book falls it will fall onto a garbled texture and the game will crash. Click to skip the cutscene and workaround this.
Game occasionally hangs or crashes when you do something, with wine console trying to invoke the debugger. Once happened when I clicked Quit in the menu, once when trying to open the door next to where you start. Behavior is not constantly reproducible.
Clicking on a diary (in the bookshelf in the library... IE one of the "readable" books) causes the game to crash. The unreadable books work.
Slight clipping issue on marker switch handles (game bug?)
Movies do not play on textures, a solid white texture being shown instead. This occurs on the dock fore-chamber holographic projector of Atrus' message to Cathrine, and on the MYST book's flyby movie, as well as Sirrus and Achenar in their books, and the linking books to mechanical age and stoneship. The exception are the swirly effects on the pictures in the library, which look perfect. This problem may be related to fixme:avifile:AVIFileExit (): stub! messages in the console (IE not that I think the stub is the cause, but the movies are probably AVIs and using wine's avifile module).
The cursor is held inside the Wine desktop window even if Winecfg has been set to disallow DirectX holding the cursor. Not sure if this is intentional behavior (setting only applies to games that explicitly window themselves?)
Also, if another window is over the Wine desktop window's center, the cursor will be visible but will still be "caught" there. Any clicks will be handled by the window OVER the Wine desktop. This is not desired behavior.
Furthermore if the user is able to move the cursor to another monitor before it snaps back, it will NOT be snapped back until the cursor is moved back to the monitor with Wine desktop on it.
The linking books to Mechanical Age and Stoneship Age are missing the textures on the covers of the close up models (when you click them).
This message appears several times in the console:
fixme:msvidc32:CRAM_DriverProc Unknown message: 400e 0 0
It does not appear to affect the game.
Workarounds
What was not tested
Installer was not tested.
Game was only tested with a no-CD crack.
I did not test the Mechanical or Stoneship ages. I was not able to visit other ages because I lacked clues needed from the diaries (probably could've done Channelwood but I think I've filed an extensive enough report as well!)
Game was only tested in a Wine desktop window.
Hardware tested

Additional Comments
Game may be completable if you already know the solutions to all the puzzles. The highest priority bug fix would be the constant crashes when trying to read a diary. Next would be the unpredictable crashes, if the cause of those can be found.
