What works

Allmost everything - the game starts, saves, loads, everything works fine, there are varios random bugs, but they present in windows version too.

What does not

There is a bug, when viewing the main menu for the first time: menu items and background are invisible, exept the item, your mouse stands over. But after starting new game and canceling it everything is fine. Also, before starting and canceling new game you aren't able to change game settings or load saved game.
The game also fails checking the CD. We had to install the no-cd patch. It doesn't says anything at all (if the CD is good or not) - just keeps spining the cd-rom in drive.

What was not tested

Additional Comments

Wine was installed from a debian package, using apt. We alsaw built wine 1.1.1 from sources and had completely same results, exept some more "fixme" messages.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

If you get the following error and performance issues:

fixme:d3d_surface:fb_copy_to_texture_direct Doing a pixel by pixel copy from the framebuffer to a texture, expect major performance issues

Adding the following Registry key should help:

HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D: OffscreenRenderingMode = "fbo"

Also if you have a black menu when the game starts, or graphic errors, you can set the following Registry Key:

HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D: UseGLSL = "disabled"

(this also increases the performance strongly)

(see http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys for further information)

Make the game look better

To force antialiasing in the game, run this in a terminal:

__GL_FSAA_MODE=4

export __GL_FSAA_MODE

wine /path/to/your/Vampire.exe -game Unofficial_Patch

Installing WtMB 1.x
by wineholic on Thursday December 1st 2016, 12:51
Hi,

Just started here in WineHQ and I'm not sure if this is right place for my questions but maybe in that case you guide me to right forum.

I found my WtMB game and I thought to give it a try in my 64 -bit Xubuntu 16.04 with winehq-staging 1.9.23.
I have made quite a lot googling but still haven't found good installation instructions.
I have found install instructions with steam and gog versions of WtMB and how to do it with playonlinux.
But I want use my own cds and wine installed in my Xubuntu.
So, can someone help me with that?

I have some sort of idea how the process would look like.
Maybe something like this:
- WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/wineprefixit/wine32-bloodline winecfg
--> In Graphics tab I need to click the checkbox for all four options and set my resolution
--> Set the OS to WinXP
And nothing else.
If I have understood correctly, there is no need for any winetricks?

And what about changing the discs during the installation?
There is three discs, how is it supposed to be done?
I found one web site with some info about changing the discs but I have no idea is it any good to try.

My nature language is not English but I hope you could catch what I'm after...

Sorry, no idea about the CD's, since I only own the Steam version.

I was able to install Steam with winetricks, then install VTMB and just run it on wine-staging without any problems. Some people have reported glitches due to the internal Python of VTMB freaking out with wine. I didn't encounter them, but I didn't play through the whole game on Linux (yet). Just be alarmed :P

Hi,

Just to let you know that I was able to finish the installation by using the original cd's.
Game installed fine but now I have problems running it :(

When the game starts, all the clips in the start are running as smoothly with perfect sound as they run in Windows machine.
But when the game menu starts to load, sound and menu are very slow and buggy.

I'm not sure is it because I installed directx during the game installation.
What you think, maybe I should have used winetricks to prefix and after that, run the game installer, skipping the directx installation part?

I'm new to wine, so I'm not sure how to start the problem solving.
Any ideas where to start?
