Additional Comments

rated gold because it needs a few tweaks to have it working. 1. i created a clean wine folder for it - i think it is better to have every game in separate .wine folder - this is optional.. i named it .bloodlines and i installed direct3d dlls into it with winetricks - - with command 'sh winetricks d3dx9' 2. i copied contents of all 3CDs into one folder and installed from that folder, it refused to accept next CD when i installed normally 3. i installed a patch 1.2 into it 4. Then i downloaded and installed nocd patch. NoCD cracks didn't work for me. 5. Then i added to registry: HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D: OffscreenRenderingMode = "fbo" HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D: UseGLSL = "disabled" without it, the game was slow and there were some display problems. 6. Then i modifed the launcher of the game(optional) - i changed this: env WINEPREFIX="/home/debian/.bloodlines" wine "C:\\Program Files\\Activision\\Vampire - Bloodlines\\vampire.exe" to this: env WINEPREFIX="/home/debian/.bloodlines" WINEDEBUG=-all wine "C:\\Program Files\\Activision\\Vampire - Bloodlines\\vampire.exe" to disable wine debugging output(it should improve the performance - for all apps - especially games) and then, i ran the game in a window, changed the resolution for my LCD(without it, i had only a black screen because of incompatible resolution/refresh rate for my display) and enabled fullscreen again and it worked flawlessly(done the whole Santa Monica part and most of Downtown and it worked fine) in some things, it worked even better than on Windows(no crashes, freezes or other problems)

HowTo / Notes

If you get the following error and performance issues:

fixme:d3d_surface:fb_copy_to_texture_direct Doing a pixel by pixel copy from the framebuffer to a texture, expect major performance issues

Adding the following Registry key should help:

HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D: OffscreenRenderingMode = "fbo"

Also if you have a black menu when the game starts, or graphic errors, you can set the following Registry Key:

HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D: UseGLSL = "disabled"

(this also increases the performance strongly)

(see for further information)

Make the game look better

To force antialiasing in the game, run this in a terminal:

export __GL_FSAA_MODE

wine /path/to/your/Vampire.exe -game Unofficial_Patch
