Classic AO Ok framerate, although about 10-30% lower than native windows. Been improving alot with the latest d3d patches. Even the display quality have improved alot. Absolutely playable. Shadowlands Lower framerate than the Classic AO, but still playable. Patching Has worked flawlessly every time.
What does not
Getting a crash (err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_SetLightEnable Too many concurrently active lights) in by4(borealis) training grounds, only place it happens to me sofar. Really low fps inside Alien Ships(2-5), looking into the ground somewhat helps, but running around with your eyes in the ground is not the best way to kill aliens. Login screen webpage, nothing to be upset about really. Minimizing does not work(as the code detecting it is a stub afaik), therefor ruling out dual-logging since the graphics card is very busy. Tried downclocking my graphics card(from 425Mhz to 200Mhz), minor differences, wich is kinda interesting. Even tried overclocking it, no improvement(did not clock it far, don't want it to blow up)
What was not tested
Installation(copied the game from my windows partition) LE missions
Giving it bronze for it's extreme slowdowns in Alien Ships, suspect it's the same in LE missions(earlier versions crashed real bad), Will test it later. And the crash in Borealis BackYard 4 Training grounds.

This step-by-step guide will help you install and run AO in Linux (including fully working patcher and launcher). Note that this guide is COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED.
Funcom support staff will NOT help you with anything related to this
guide, or any problems you might encounter with the install while
playing using this setup.
1) Download the Wine source
3) Compile and install Wine
4) Install IE6 using winetricks (this step is needed for patching and for the launcher content to render correctly):
wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks sh winetricks ie6
5) Download the 18.1.1 full AO installer.
6) Run the AO installer. Accept the default install path.
7) Create a startup script (optional). Save it with whatever name you want (ao.sh, for example).
ÂÂÂÂ#!/bin/bash export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine cd $WINEPREFIX/drive_c/Program\ Files/Funcom/Anarchy\ Online WINEDEBUG=-all ÂÂÂwine Anarchy.exe chmod a+x ao.shÂ
8) Run the script (if you followed step 5).ÂÂ
