What works

Most of the applications run: Write, Spreadsheet, Database, Presentation. File i/o seems OK in most cases - Database can open MS Access MDB, Spreadsheet can open XLS, Presentation PPT etc.

What does not

Main problems so far:

  • Photopaint application - does not start
  • Presentation - unable to run Slide Show mode, unable to create any object with text.
  • Write - slow display of text changes, text/selection miss-match, problems displaying cursor.
  • Cannot save to PDF in any app.
  • Photo-Album application does not start
  • Help text does not display
  • Spreadsheet - cannot insert Chart

Install note

Ability requires some basic Microsoft DLLs - MFC, Visual C++ runtime, DAO/JET. Before Ability can be installed, these DLLs must be installed. They can be downloaded here:

http://www.ability.com/download4/mfc/MFCSetup.MSI

http://www.ability.com/download4/jet/JetSetup.exe

And to install:

wine -i msiexec MFCSetup.MSI

wine JetSetup.exe

Also, note that Database runs best with msvcrt.dll set to Native.
