Playing the game works.
What does not
installing the game does NOT work.
What was not tested
multiplayer, the game complains about firewall.
cannot change cd's to get past cd1 had to install it on my winxp in vbox, then zip the folder, copy it over to linux. to get rid of the little box that the game likes to run in, navigate to your "My Documents" (/home/user/documents is where mine is) folder for the game, edit the "personal.ini" change the line from FullScreen=1 to FullScreen=0 you can change resolutions there also. walla, it works!!! and works really well. running a virtual desktop of 1440x900 and windowed game mode (looks fullscreen to me)

2015-07-07 Admin note: the following tips were extracted from user comments made over a year ago and may not be relevant to current Wine.
For those having problems with the cd key and pidgen.dll, try using winetricks to install mfc42. It should at least get the install to start.
I also had to install MSXML3 to get it working.
