What works

Installer runs from CD in Wine 0.9.15, including installation of files. Crashes at final registration. See below on keeping the installer from deleting the directories. When running from installation directory, Iedit.exe shows the initial menu asking whether you want the basic interface or the normal one.

What does not

The Installer works to a point in Wine 0.9.15, where it crashes with the message:

err:ole:marshal_object object doesn't expose interface {be6115a1-7de5-48dc-ad2a-25060e00fce2}, failing with error 0x80004002
err:ole:ClientIdentity_QueryMultipleInterfaces IRemUnknown_RemQueryInterface failed with error 0x80004002
err:variant:SafeArrayPutElement Invalid pvData would crash under Win32!

If you kill explorer.exe and setup.exe it leaves the binaries.  The application then needs MSVCIRT.DLL to be present.  I used a copy from XP Home SP2 and tried it again.

The application blows up with a :

fixme:winedbg:be_i386_is_func_call Unsupported yet call insn (0x10) at
0x7fc3a417
fixme:heap:RtlCompactHeap stub
Invalid address (0x7fc3a419) for breakpoint 0, disabling it

and a message from Iedit_.exe (Called by Iedit.exe):

Unable to read version information from the file C:\Program Files\ Ulead
Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 11\Iedit_.exe  Insufficient memory or system
resources low.

This message pops up twice then the application exits.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Did not test with any native windows DLL's. It is possible that one or more native windows DLL's are needed to make this work. Did NOT run depends32 to do a dependency scan, as the installation directory allready includes over 190 dll's. Probably will try it.

Additional Comments

Also ran the installer for version 4.0 and the installer worked flawlessly. The application itself, however, has the same error messages about low resources. Looks like this program would run with an fix/implementation to the heap:RtlCompactHeap stub
