RPG Maker XP entry in the RPG Maker series from 2005 that gives you the power to create your own original role-playing games. Its popular and highly user-friendly editor interface has been carried over from RPG Maker 2000, and its graphic capabilities, battle screen layout, and data packaging features are better than ever.
Version 1.02a boasts a brand-new Scripting function.
Installed flawlessly, and registered without a hitch.
Main Editor: All toolbar options: menus; database; materials (Import/Export); music (playing audio, see below); New Game/Load Game/Save Game function. Play testing: Everything appears to work just fine.
What does not
The all menus from the Map Properties drop down menu do not work with my mouse. I used Tab to navigate around this however, and everything works BUT selecting check boxes, so you can't change the Auto-Change BGM or Auto-Change BGS. This can be worked around by making an Event that will change the BGM/BGS. When you close the window sometimes the drop-down menu will still be there and you have to press Esc to exit it.
MIDI files do not seem to work, whatsoever. By default, all of the BGM and ME files included in the RTP are MIDI files, whereas the BGS and SE files are OGGs.
What was not tested
I'd have given it a Gold rating if it wasn't for the Audio problems. RPG Maker XP supports a wide variety of audio files though, so you can easily work around it.
