What works

I just had a quick run through of the main features

• load/save game
• inspect planets
• generate a few years
• send some ships around
• ship/research/battle plans browsers
• Stats reports
  
• Production queues, etc
• Ship orders
  
• read the news and jump to planets and ships from the new
  
• change screen display options (large/small/medium)
• change galaxy display options (zoom/minefields/text,etc)
• close
• registration
• password protection
• Custom Race designer/New game (very briefly!)
  

What does not

The Battle VCR fails on load - you have to kill Stars! and restart. I would suggest this is due to the use of wavemix.dll. The battle VCR works fine in the shareware version (2.60j)- and the only difference is that the shareware version does not include sound support (and hence wavemix.dll).

Additional Comments

Use the shareware version for a working Battle VCR - it uses exactly the same serial numbers as the commercial version
