"Create game" worked on initial run with Wine 1.4; I upgraded to 1.5.15 from the Wine PPA to enable pulseaudio patches. The bug is not repeat NOT due to pulseaudio - it happens even with audio set to "disabled" entirely. Reverting back to 1.4 from the stock repos now; I'll report on that again after I do.
