Installation complains about missing PidGen.dll for verifying the product key, copying MFC24.DLL to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 fixes this. Works flawlessly after that.
What does not
Actual game, complains about missing dlls, which when provided throws an unhandled page fault. Auto updater hangs.
What was not tested
The unhandled page fault problem can be fixed using Wine 0.9.13.

As a workaround, look in the gfxconfig and gfxconfig2 folders and replace the contents of the i845.gfx files with the context of the geforce3.gfx files. This should work with both nvidia and amd gpus.
After that, you should be able to use higher resolutions are 32bpp, and the fog of war issue and water glitch should be fixed.
