What works

Installation, entering gameplay and playing. This demo is actually playable now :-) Sound also works much better than in previous versions of Wine (almost no stuttering) using ALSA with emulation setting.

What does not

Buildings disappear when shadow quality is not on the lowest level. Terrain of some unexplored parts of the map is visible through blue fog.

HOWTO

After the setup program has completed, do the following

  • In the install folder's 'Support/DirectX' folder, extract d3dx9_29.dll by running 'cabextract Feb2006_d3dx9_29_x86.cab', then copy d3dx9_29.dll to Wine's 'windows/system32' directory (usually ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32)
  • Place msvcr71.dll in Wine's 'windows/system32' directory
  • Be sure to run the game from the root directory where you installed it (the folder with bin/, data/, uninstall.exe etc.). Run it with 'wine bin/s2dng.exe'
