Word Viewer 2003 (Release Date: December 15, 2004) ­is the successor of Word Viewer 97/2000 and used to display, print and copy from Word documents (or rtf or regular text documents)­.

Note that plain Word Viewer 2003 is no longer available from Microsoft. The current download link installs the installs the 2007 version, which is really the 2003 version with SP1 applied. ­  You can tell which version you have by the name of the downloaded file:

  • wdviewer.exe is the filename for the Word Viewer 2003 installer
  • wordview_en-us.exe is the filename for the current (2007) version

Additional Comments

As stated in a message, the proper method to install it is the following : * open a terminal (konsole or whatever) * type this : TEMPDIR=$(mktemp) && cabextract -d $TEMPDIR wdviewer.exe && wine msiexec /i $TEMPDIR/WORDVIEW.MSI; rm -rf $TEMPDIR * You'll get the viewer installed within : .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\ Office/OFFICE11/WORDVIEW.EXE
