What works

Surprisingly AQ works better than PAF under Wine! ;-) The Name List view seems perfect in appearance and function as does the Family View. The displayed text is kinda funny looking in the Pedigree view but it seems otherwise fully functional.

If the [Help] button is pressed a window will pop-up complaining that help did not load - ignore it - clicking OK will close the help window which you don't want to do - it seems that help is actually functional, go ahead and select your topic.

AQ will even be able to successfully do its search thingey to the internet and link to the data you want using (in my case) Firefox browser.

What does not

The installer will partially install AQ 11 in Wine's 'c:\Program Files\Incline Software\Ancestral Quest 11' folder, update the registry and put a shortcut icon on your Gnome desktop.
In Wine's c: you will also find a folder "AQ 11 Setup CD (Temporary Folder)". In that temporary folder navigate to "program files->Incline Software->Ancestral Quest 11" Copy all the files in that folder into the same AQ folder in Wine (you don't have to replace the files that are already installed there).
Now you should be able to double click the AQ icon on the desktop to run the program.

There is a major problem with printing (crashes or prints very poorly to way too many pages) which I don't have the patience to deal with right now. The problem seems to relate to AQ failing to understand printer margins - metric vs inch? Printing to TXT files works but the formatting has long strings of spaces at line ends.

What was not tested

The Collaboration feature hasn't even been tried - I'm not sure wheather it even installed.

Additional Comments

After the installation finishes in Wine's c: you will find a folder "AQ 11 Setup CD (Temporary Folder)". In that temporary folder navigate to "program files->Incline Software->Ancestral Quest 11" Copy all the files in that folder into the same AQ folder in Wine's 'c:\Program Files\Incline Software\Ancestral Quest 11' (you don't have to replace the files that are already installed there). For some reason install doesn't finish the job. Now you should be able to double click the AQ icon on the desktop to run the program. The first time AQ runs it will ask for your validation number - type it in the block and you're golden!
