Additional Comments

Sometimes the application seams to not be able to gain focus. On whichever windows manager you're using doing twice the "Show desktop" command (usually winkey + d) fixes the problem.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
Before you install wakan copy from a Windows installation (or from somewhere over the internet) to your local fonts dir (~/.wine/drive_c/Windows/Fonts) these fonts: 'mingliu.ttc', 'msmincho.ttc', 'msgothic.ttc', and 'simsun.ttc' - they are required in order to display the kanji and the kana. After you install and run the program for first time the application will start a bug message would pop up with three options: 'Quit', 'Send e-mail' or 'Countinue'. You need to click in rapid succession 'Countinue' Several times (in my case arround ten) in order to get the past the bug message and start the application. This issue occurs only during the first run and it will not bother you after that.

However it's not absolutely necessary to install fonts before WaKan, it's much easier.
Here's a solution for those who didn't copy them before:
1. Put needed fonts info wine's c:\windows\fonts directory
2. Run wakan.
3. Go to Tools -> settings
4. Choose fonts tab and then click select recommended fonts.
Now everything should work ok.
