In order to make the demo work I did the following in a terminal window: 1. To create a 32 bit wineprefix step 1: export WINEARCH=win32 2. To create a 32 bit wineprefix step 2: env WINEPREFIX="/home/myusername/wine_c4d" winecfg and set the emulate virtual desktop to 800x600 while I was at it... 3. Install dotnet 2.0 with winetricks: env WINEPREFIX="/home/myusername/wine_c4d" winetricks 4. Launch the demo istall: env WINEPREFIX=/home/myusername/wine_c4d wine /home/myusername/demos/caesar4_demo_en.exe During install I have also installed the DirectX driver. 5. Install the Palatino Linotype font into my .fonts directory from here: http://www.freefontsdb.com/P-fonts-2.html 6. Launch the program: env WINEPREFIX="/home/myusername/wine_c4d" wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix /home/myusername/wine_c4d/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Desktop/CaesarIV\ Demo.lnk The demo crashes after varying amount of gameplay after I select to start a new game from the main menu.
