Installed from CD. Quicken 2001 data files, previously maintained under VMWare, were transferred flawlessly without any changes. I don't use many of Quicken's features - just bank and credit-card accounts. And, I have some custÂom reports defined. Everything I use works perfectly, or certainly good enough that I don't notice problems. The backup function makes a copy of the working files to a second hard drive defined in Wine with a different drive letter. Printing works. Preferences and fonts work. Startup is fast. Basically, I'm thrilled to death that I no longer have to use VMWare or VirtualBox. VMWare required a lot of tweaking after any kernel update. Wine continued to work without any intervention.
What does not
Sometimes I will get a dialog box that is missing the (white) background. Everything is there in terms of border and content. But the underlying window shows through, captured as a snapshot for the background. That is, the inappropriate background moves with the dialog box when repositioned. So, it is not just transparent, allowing whatever is behind to be seen. Instead, it is static, captured at the time of dialog box windoÂw creation.Â
What was not tested
File imports and exports nor transaction downloads from banks.
This is a good version of Quicken that works very well under Wine if all you want to do is track/categorize bank and credit-card transactions and generate reports.
