August 31st, 2006--The latest Xfire release brings live updates to nicknames, a whole slew of bug fixes, and many new games.
Installing, logging in and chatting. Games installed with Wine are detected as normal and the time they are played is logged by xfire as normal.
What does not
Ingame chat or screenshots. Fonts for the friend's list are broken. Text is shown there to represent friends that are online, but it's in a rough system font and the area it takes up is a white box.
What was not tested
It is possible to run old versions of xfire still by modifying the version values in the xfire.ini file. This could be useful for people that don't want to use gfire. Unfortunately the games list is old...but using a newer games list from a new copy fixes that, though it causes toucan to crash. Removing the xfire_toucan_*****.dll file bypasses that issue.
