August 31st, 2006--The latest Xfire release brings live updates to nicknames, a whole slew of bug fixes, and many new games.
Xfire overall works. Messaging is possible.
What does not
The text ONLY on the buddy list of the names is unreadable. The text is mostly replaced with uncommon characters vertical rectangles. It can be sluggish at times.
What was not tested
File transfer, Voice calls, direct game joining.
Overall, XFire works if all your are going to do is sit there and recieve message and chit chat a little. Game detection is iffy. It is simply no where near as useful as it is in Windows enviroments. Helpful hint, compile Wine from its source, it seems to run smoother when complied but no difference of functionality so far.
