August 31st, 2006--The latest Xfire release brings live updates to nicknames, a whole slew of bug fixes, and many new games.
chat, file transfer, game tracking and launching for games that run in wine, links in conversations, server tracking, tray icon. Game launching works for native linux games with some tweaking. Theme switching works if you right click on the tray icon and select theme, and then choose your theme. Any other way causes it to crash.
What does not
game tracking for games that run natively in linux. Ex: say I have quake 4 installed, and the linux binaries. Unless I use wine and launch a windows binary, xfire will not detect it. Also, text on the 'buddy list' is illegible. Sometimes the tooltips don't go away. Crashes on audio chat, and on attempting to switch themes on the options window.
What was not tested
Files and automatic patches.
It works but it would work better as a native linux program.
