What works

Main features (too many features for me to have tested *all* of them).

  • Load/save SGF (handles large, complex files, e.g. Kogo's)
  • Load from URL
  • Traverse game
  • Automatic replay w/ adjustable time interval
  • Edit game
    • undo/redo
    • toggle read-only status
    • edit game info
    • annotations
    • node name editing
    • branch manipulation
    • delete/relocate move
    • rotate/flip/mirror board
    • board setup (as for handicap games or tsumego)
  • Display
    • comments
    • markers on board and stones
  • Custom board and stone bitmaps
  • Territory counting
  • Options dialog
  • Change comment font
  • Sound
  • Printing
  • Tutoring mode
  • Play against gnugo
  • Language options (Chinese Simplified/Traditional), but see comments
  • Uninstall

What does not

Save Board as Picture. Unfortunate, because Multigo produces very nice board images. No error other than "Save failed". Minor feature, though.

Help *works*, but the help window has to be killed (won't go away just by clicking on 'Close' button)

Tool buttons have a magenta background. I would guess this is an incorrectly read/rendered alpha channel. Minor appearance issue. Example.

As near as I can make out, either shadows under stones, or stone graphics themselves aren't anti-aliased (maybe relates tofixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 4132 (SPI_GETDROPSHADOW)), but this is a *very* minor cosmetic issue, and someone who'd never run MultiGo under Windows probably wouldn't notice.Example.

Additional Comments

There *are* graphics anomalies, but they are purely cosmetic. No workarounds or configuration changes are required. No crashes. Functionally, the best SGF editor around; *very* usable and stable. MultiGo is be multilingual (at least English, Chinese Simplified/Traditional), but I don't know how to configure Wine to display other languages properly. It runs, and seems to work fine, though.
