What works

Almost everything in the program works with Wine 0.9.60 (not yet listed in the drop-down menu) on SnagIt 8.2.3 except text-related options. Perhaps this has to do with the Gecko rendering engine?

What does not

The Text Tool does not work at all and the Callout Tool does not take text (shown X'd out in the screen shot below).

Text shows up when typing into the internal editor, but does not actually get applied to the screen capture. Caption (under Tasks pane on the right) does work, however. Caption does not appear to render text in the same way as the Text and Callout tools.

Part of the Options pane under the main menu does not show up either. This quirk also appears to be related to the HTML or HTML-like elements of SnagIt not getting drawn properly. Notice above the red line I've drawn below that the elements are not rendering at all.

Workarounds

What was not tested

FTP, e-mail, and printer functions were not tested. All the basic editing functions--save the text-based ones already noted--appear to work as expected.

Additional Comments

Almost everything appears to work except text-related functions. This makes SnagIt 8.2.3 only a Bronze rating. It could be a Silver or even a Gold if the text-related functions would work properly. The Gecko-based engine used to render HTML elements may be suspect here.
