What works

Version: 1.82

Almost everything. Auto-Updates from version 1.81 to 1.82. Game play works. Moving between planets. Equiping items (even gold), Unquiping items, Buying Quorgs (probably wights too), Buying other units (Including Super Organic). Sound/Music (on my box anyways XD using alsa :P). Saving of custom formations, chat macros, and other misc settings.

What does not

Alt+[q,w,e,a,s,d,z,x,c] is used to change formations. Wine get's the impression that Alt is only used to pop-up the alt+spacebar menu by accident when your trying to pjown some wulus! It's also ~VERY~ annoying to use pigs (since the classic technic is to hold down alt+e; and wine beeps at alt like a baby who's dirtied it's dipper, is hungy, and can't find mom or dad!). The SG-Mail system and the SG-Message board system do not function either ;.;

What was not tested

Tutorial, Help Message, News Message. I believe these work off the same code as the mail/message board, but it's been years since I've turned them on ;p Also haven't recorded a battle or replayed one yet.

Additional Comments

Tested with Knoppix too (Removed knoppix' default wine install and built 0.9.29)

HowTo / Notes

Wine, SG, and sound

Sound on SG may be choppy, or crash WINE altogether!

Choppy sound: use winecfg to change Audio "Hardware Acceleration" to "Emulate"

It means you should, using winecfg, uncheck (if checked) the ALSA driver and check the OSS driver, or change the Audio "Hardware Acceleration" to "Emulate".

Shattered Galaxy updates rarely, but the patcher mechanism can and often will trash or jam your installation.

Use with care.

Logitech mouse not working

BUG : 2 buttons Logitech mouse no longer working after updating to wine version : 1.1.20.

The mouse work in the login screen but froze after that. The mouse works as usual on my computer.

in /etc/X11/xorg.conf :

 Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier     "Mouse0"
        Driver         "mouse"
        Option         "Protocol" "auto"
        Option         "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option         "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
        Option         "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        # generated from default

Im running in low-resolution mode because my graphics card crashed.

But, before updating wine , it worked well

wine terminal output :
