Act of War: Direct Action

What works

• 1. Installation.
• 2. Installing the latest patch (download from https://www.fileplanet.com/151... or from ftp://ftp.atari.com/patches/aow/ActOfWar_DirectAction_Patch4_MultiLang_ver01_06_3.exe ).
• 3. Menus, game (Operations, Engagements), save, load, sound.

What does not

• All videos (black screen, but sound is OK). Note: Installing WMP9 and Cinepak codec did not help. Press ESC key to skip a video.
• Mouse cursor (because blinking too much, this makes it hard to see when playing, and almost impossible to see on the game menus screens).
• Ubuntu 18.04 left menu bar appears over the game.

Workarounds

• Ubuntu 18.04 left menu bar, to hide it : "wine winecfg" -> Display -> "Emulate virtual desktop" (example : 1366x768).
• Widescreen : OK with the patched .EXE file ("Act of War Resolution Patch") downloaded from https://www.moddb.com/games/ac...

What was not tested

Full playthrough, multiplayer (Online play), full screen.
