After you installed the game you may get a performance boost if you use the latest version of DirectX 9.
The easiest way to do so, is using winetricks:
winetricks directx9

Assuming everything is installed to default directories, following install run the following command:
mkdir ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/THQ/Dawn\ of\ War\ -\ Dark\ Crusade\ Demo/Profiles ; mkdir ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/THQ/Dawn\ of\ War\ -\ Dark\ Crusade\ Demo/GraphicsOptions/Data ; mkdir ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/THQ/Dawn\ of\ War\ -\ Dark\ Crusade\ Demo/Engine/Data ; cd /home/test/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/THQ/Dawn\ of\ War\ -\ Dark\ Crusade\ Demo/ ; wine DarkCrusade.exe
This is fixed in Wine 1.3.8.
If you have problems with completely corrupted textures the problem might be that your systems lacks a library that is used for texture compression in Dawn of War.
Under Debian based system install the package "libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0" and try again.
