Installation was no problem.
Sound using ALSA Drivers worked perfectly.
The graphics for the game ran perfectly using OpenGL patch.
Save/Load/Exit games worked pefectly.
All launcher options were available and working correctly.
What does not
Running the game in Direct3D created problems with resolution and missing mouse hardware.
Same for the Software renderer. I could not get past the registration screen as I was not able to find the button to click to submit registration.
What was not tested
Virtually no testing was done on the Software/Direct3D video settings as could not get to configure correctly.
Game would run flawlessly if OpenGL graphics was the primary option for video graphics selection. Install the patch and experience the game better than you did 10 years ago.

Game installs without problem from setup file located at wcnews. Download and install starter pack, then download and install following episodes.
Applying OpenGL patch
It install flawless and adds OpenGL support for the game, please download it from here.
In order to get the max from the game following video modes should be used.
OpenGL delivers full fps and high resolution support, this is the recomended video mode to be used.
A Glide wrapper can be used in systems that OpenGL show problems, download it from here http://www.zeckensack.de/glide/
D3D and Software rendering modes should be avoided because these are proven to be really slow.
* Before testing I have found that most Intel GMA cards aren't powerful enough to run this game under wine.
In order to play Secret Ops you had to register your pilot, it was a free registration just to track uses and submit scores, but as Origin site is no longer active, it can be done in this site.
