Additional Comments

I had to downgrade from wine version 1.7.19 to 1.7.16 for Layout Plus to properly parse the license file. Don't know why but license file parsing stopped working since wine version 1.7.17. Other problem I noticed, that also happens under native Windows 7 and Windows 8 (e.g. not Wine, but a real Windows 7 or Windows 8 box): running Capture causes processes cdsMsgServer and cdsNameServer programs to continuously execute and exit in an infinite loop, taking 100% CPU. Workaround for this problem: once you are running Capture, open a terminal and run these two commands (you might need to run them twice): $ killall cdsMsgServer $ killall cdsNameServer These processes will die, you'll get your CPU back and everything will work just fine.

Orcad seems to work better in 1.1.42 and above

There are even some patches for the new 1.2 version (contributed in June 2010) that fix some Orcad crashes.
Orcad 10.x installation (TCP/IP) error
by Indy on Sunday January 18th 2009, 5:38

I'm triying to install Orcad 10.5 under wine 1.0.1 (ubuntu 8.10+). I'm getting network failure saying something like:

Error with Network Protocols
The Network protocol installed on this computer eithre cannot be detected or are incompatible with the FLEXlm license manager.

i.e, I cannot even get to setup the license.

Anybody passed this error?

You must install license manager under Windows and then copy the license_manager folder across to wine.

Bug 3023 from the 9.x series continues on in the 10.x series of OrCAD used under wine. Same fix applies, in wine 0.9.49, modify dlls/user32/dialog.c to exclude the line "if (hwnd ==
GetActiveWindow()) WINPOS_ActivateOtherWindow( hwnd );) " which is now on line 897 of the file at of this version.
