What works

  • The initial splash is choppy, if you are seriously concerned about it you can abort and re-launch wine Civilization3.exe and it will play perfectly ...

  • The Sound quality is not the best, as in other versions or wine/civ3 updates the midi mixes do not blend and are choppy. (I recommend disabling sound completely.)

  • The game play is good, I played Civilization III for 2-1/2hrs w/o crashing... I tested All on board menus, Launched from Advanced Start,Quick Start, Scenario, and Saved Games, all performed equally.

What does not

  • Sound is still choppy

  • Game play is slightly sluggish

(I test everything from a Toshiba Satellite A55-S1063 Laptop, w/Celeron M 1.50GHz processor and a Intel Extreme Graphics Card, 248MB of Ram. Running SuSe 10.1 ONLY as you know.) Compared to CIV3's performance on “Windowz XP” it is not so bad...

  • Civ3Edit.exe is still not working, Could be a simple change in MS Versions, but for now it will go untested as I work on perfecting Civilization III's Game Play... until then the “WineX” Application Cedega is supporting Civ3Edit (and only that LOL)
