Maintainers: About Maintainership
What works
Installation, gameplay with no-CD patches.
What does not
.bik movies, foreign advisor screen (lines connecting showing war/peace/alliance and trade statuses). Does not play at all without no-CD patch. Sound glitches frequently, and often units make sound when attacking even though sound effects are "off." Turning sound effects off stops effects from infinitely repeating, however.
Workarounds
What was not tested

Additional Comments
Two tweaks are needed (thanks, Roger Koot): - link or copy LSANS.TTF to LSANS.fot - Remove the .bik files from Arts/Movies You must start Civilization III from the directory in which it was installed. Using "wine /path/to/Civilization\ III.exe" from another directory will cause an error in Wine. Frequently, the initial splash screen is drawn covering about a quarter of the screen (i.e., there is black at the bottom and right sides, obscuring the menu). You can still click the menu options, allowing you to exit the game and try again if you click the right spot. It usually works normally the second and subsequent times. I'm actually using Wine 1.5.3, but that is not listed in the releases menu....
