If you copy the Quake3 folder to your home directory, just cd to that directory and $ wine quake3.exe All functions work well running under wine Mods also work

No registry entries needed, just copy whole program folder over from Windows. You may have to adjust the q3config file in baseq3 for your video card if it's not the same gpu. Worked as lan server, but windows is smoother
