My particular gamepad is a modified Xbox controller using the xpad driver. I don't know if there was an improvement in .9.36 that allowed for it to work or if its a case-by-case basis. I couldn't get joy2key to find it, but I suppose if you could, you'd be able to use a gamepad fully (set up the analog sticks normally, then use joy2key to bind key presses to your face buttons).
