Version 6.0 CD install upgraded to 6.5 (version 6.5.7356) with standard webupdates.
Most main functions I tried from Altium itself works, schematic, pcb, camtastic, exporting, it all looks fine, if noticeably slower than windows :-( Turning off some of the display prettyness features in preferences did help with the speed a bit.
What does not
Camtastic went a bit screwy on me, slow, screen updating incredibly slow, getting stuck in loops of moving up/down zooming in/out. I think basically it was just incredibly slow, and wanted to refresh every frame as it moved/zoomed. It did cause the program to become completely unresponsive while it was doing its own thing though, as in it didn't want to give me a chance to close it, so is an issue. But it eventaully caught up (even flashed the applications icon in the task bar to let me know it was ready...not sure why) and I could then go to view->zoom all and it brought it back on screen properly, and gave me a chance to close it.
Now that I notice it, it's the scroll wheel that sends it screwy, the scroll bars are missing, and the layers are all shown wrong - so no camtastic is not working right. Lucky I don't use it anyway....
For the record scroll wheel works fine in pcb and schem.
In preferences, I can't see any of the ckeckboxes, just the labels, so I have no idea whether they're on or off. This was fixed by changing wine emulation to windows xp (from windows 2000). There was still a slider bar in preferences that didn't show up.
Complains about not being able to find parallel port driver on start up, most likely it's normal method of talking to a nanoboard wont work, but I don't own one to check.
What was not tested
can't think of anything at moment.....oh yeah, haven't tried the installer recently, last time I did it looked like it worked, until at the very end it gave me an error, and then the installed copy of dxp just didn't work.
As mentioned in v6.0, it does need some stuff preinstalled. Using winetricks on a clean .wine home I installed: corefonts, dcom98, fakeie6, mfc40, mdac27 and vcrun6 For all there's a big box of 'not working' these are fairly minor things as far as I'm concerned, and many are probably easily fixed. Hence I think it's worth a silver.
