What works
Installation works: wine SkypeSetup-Beta.exe but with a lot of debugging messages.
What does not
Splash screen shows, nothing else works. E.g. application doesn't start. Skype.exe startup ends with:
wine client error:9: write: Bad address

HOWTO Skype 3 with Wine
1. Install Wine 0.9.29 (verified) and begin with a fresh ~./wine directory.
2. Install Skype 3.0.0.198 (verified) from http://www.skype.com and the SkypeSetup.exe file. The installer should run flawlessly.
3.
Run #winecfg and select Windows 98 mode for Skype.exe if it's not
already done. You may use the ALSA sound driver with this program,
however OSS will work just as well. Select native support for shdocvw.dll and shlwapi.dll. More information on this can be found here.
