-- Prepare the full installation
Copy all CD files in a directory, and path this directory into the Drives tab of winecfg.
Each time you finished copying a single CD (there are three), you need to sort out permission problem by using a command "chmod -R +w your_copying_destination" before you start copying the next disc.
Copy all files from three CD into one directory (with overwriting). This way, the setup will be able to complete (in Windows, the game would prompt you to insert another CD; in Linux, this workaround does the trick).
-- Run the install program
wine .wine/path/setup.exe from that directory.
Follow the installation as normal. Don't install directX. Don't register.
When the installation finished, the copied files from the CDs may be deleted.
Add drive_c/path/Rayman_3 to the list of applications in winecfg.
-- Play the game
wine .wine/path/Rayman_3 (insert CD2/3, and run Rayman3 from start menu or program files). Adjust graphics options, full screen mode goes automatically.
Overall gameplay rates Rayman3 as Silver.
What does not
After quitting the game, the screen display is kept in "low-resolution Rayman mode".
If display settings won't work, I just reboot Linux. I haven't investigated much further here, this workaround is pretty cheap.
