What works

Installed using Mirror Moon's English patch installer. Tested main menu, character selection, Arcade/Vs. mode. Opening movie (MBOP.MPG) will play if using native quartz.dll/devenum.dll + 3rd-party MPEG-1 codec (in my case, LAV Filters)

What does not

Same issues as the original Melty Blood:

  • No character sprites are visible, hence the game is completely unplayable.
  • If using native quartz/devenum/MPEG-1 codec, OP movie will only play the first time. The next time it will not play, and the game will eventually crash because of this. Unsure if this is related to LAV Filters or some other Wine bug

Additional Comments

Looks like Melty Blood and Wine will never play alongside... because this years-old issue (the "invisible sprites") is still present, even on modern-day Linux/Wine installs! FWIW, I'm testing on ATI/AMD hardware.
